Physical Literacy Workshop
Physical Literacy training – how to improve children’s physical development.
The Strengthening Muscles: Strengthening Minds Programme was developed by Derby City Physical Literacy Partnership to support the physical development of children aged between 3 and 8 years in schools and nurseries. The programme is also suitable to use with older children that do not meet expected levels of physical development for their age.
Cost: Free for affiliated schools (Maximum 2 places per school) Active Schools will have already been invited by programme leads.
When? Thursday 24Th October
Time? AM slot- 9.00 to 12.00. PM slot 1.00 to 3.00.
Where? Derby Arena, Royal Way, Derby DE248JB
Aimed at? PE coordinators, SENCOS, Teaching assistants

For 2022 we have updated our toolkit and resources for the intervention programme, and these will be emailed out after attendance.

Training is delivered in 2 parts and is a mixture of theory and practical, so comfortable clothing is recommended.

There are 2 slots available AM/PM sessions from 9.00 to 12.00 and 1.00 to 3.00 and focuses on how to assess pupil’s physical development and how to deliver the intervention programme for pupils in year 2 and above.

The afternoon session from 1.00 to 3.00 focuses on how to support children’s physical development across the curriculum with a particular focus on the early years and KS1.
