Derby County Community Trust’s Football and Education programme is a county wide programme providing full-time post 16 education to male and female learners across Derbyshire, working alongside our education partners to deliver excellence in our academic and football provision.
Learners can study at one of our 4 venues:
- Buxton & Leek College (Based at University of Derby)
- Chesterfield College
- Derby Rugby Club (In partnership with League Football Education)
- Friesland School
Through our partnerships with a variety of education providers across the county, this offers us the opportunity to offer learners the option to study A Levels as well as Level 3 and Level 2 sport qualifications as well as undertaking GCSE re sits should a learner need to do so.
The full time education programme is complimented with a full time football offer with learners playing in one of our Derby County Community Trust teams, competing in the EFL’s CEFA League where they play weekly fixtures as well as training three times a week with out professional coaches.
Our coaches qualifications range from UEFA B, UEFA A and UEFA Pro Licence allowing us to offer the very best football coaching we can, working to a planned syllabus across specific topics relevant to the game. Each learner also receives three reviews a year on their football development using our state of the art tracking and monitoring tool, Commentary Box.
In addition to this, using our four Veo cameras, this allows us to film all of our games giving our learners footage that can be used for coaching purposes as well as creating individual video packages to send to academies and universities in the USA.
2023/23 Open Days
We're holding two events in October to provide prospective students who want to start with us in 2023 the opportunity to learn more about the programme and experience a football session with our coaches. Full details of the two events are below.
Information Evening, Monday 24th October, 6-8pm, Pride Park Stadium
This will give students the opportunity to learn more about the programme from staff and ask any questions they may have. They'll also hear from current students and be able to talk to them about their personal experiences studying and playing with us.
Open Day, Wednesday 26th October, 10am-1pm, Moor Farm Training ground
This day will provide students the chance to go through a session with our coaches, giving them a flavour of the football side of the programme as well as letting them get to know our coaches who they'll be working with should they choose to join us in 2023.
To find our more about the programme, register your interest using the form below and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss in more detail with you.
“The collaboration between our school and Derby County Community Trust, along with the opening of the school’s new 3G astro in June 2019, has seen the partnership is going from strength to strength with increased numbers and our first girls’ cohort. It is a truly unique part of our Sixth Form offer.”
We're hosting open days ahead of the 2022-23 academic year.
