About
Active Choices is one of Derby County Community Trust’s longest running programmes which has supported over 2000 participants through their addiction journey since its inception in 2012.
The programme is designed to support individuals with implementing structure, routine and positive lifestyle change, by becoming more active as they recover from substance misuse. Whilst also introducing participants to a strong recovery network, it also provides support with volunteering, employment, education and qualifications.
Working in partnership with local organisations including drug and alcohol rehabilitation and treatment centres, supported living providers, hostels, along with the local authority in Derby City and wider Derbyshire, we accept referrals on to the programme when individuals are ready to commit to their abstinence.
There are volunteering and mentoring opportunities within the project, which in the past has seen participants become members of the Derby County Community Trust team to support others.
Participants also get the chance to take part in experiences designed to reward their commitment. In the past these have included player visits, Christmas meals, celebration events and the chance to play at other clubs and grounds.
