About
Winning Minds is our flagship youth mental wellbeing project which is delivered across schools.
The gap in provision for the support of young people’s wellbeing locally and nationwide has been clearly identified and we are able to try and help make a difference within our communities.
The Winning Minds programme takes a holistic approach to address emotional health and wellbeing around key milestones in Year 6 by supporting pupils’ confidence and development within their academic journey.
The programme runs for a total of 9 weeks, the first 6 weeks focus on SATS preparation and the final 3 weeks look at transitional support for year 7.
Winning Minds aims to support these pupils to develop the knowledge and skills to support good mental health in the following key areas:
- Resilient Mind: Planning, goal setting, identifying stress and coping strategies
- Healthy Mind: Diet, lifestyle and good habits for sleep
- Active Mind: Physical activity and how good physical health effects good mental health”
If you would like more information about how to get your school involved in the Winning Minds programme, please email Chelsea.moore@dcct.co.uk.
“There is a mental health crisis for children and young people as one in eight have a diagnosable mental health condition, but at the moment the NHS is only able to support about one third of those in need”
