Over 65s Walking Football Finalists

Both the Derby and Heanor teams together

Derby County Community Trust took part in the Derbyshire Walking Football Over 65s Cup Final at St George’s Park against Heanor.

The first game ended in a 0-0 draw with Derby having the better chances. The next two games were close contests with Heanor edging both games 1-0 to take the cup.

The trip to St George's Park came as a reward for a successful year in both the league and cup competitions, with all the players enjoying the experience.

Health Team Leader, Luke Wilkinson, said: “Firstly well done to Heanor on their win today. It was a great day out with some really good football being played. I’m proud of our team for getting to this stage to get the opportunity to play at St George’s Park.

“Walking Football is becoming more popular, and we’re really pleased to be a part of it as a Trust. We’re looking forward to continuing to be a part of that growth and encouraging more people to get involved and play both socially and competitively.”

Our social walking football sessions are open to over 50s and take place twice a week. Learn more about the sessions below.
