Shining a spotlight on our Community Coach, Fred Inasi

Published on 28 January 2026 in News.

Fred Inasi’s Derby County Community Trust journey began when he was 16 years old as an apprentice in 2019, Fred recalls “I wanted to do an apprenticeship with DCCT as I’ve always wanted to coach. I was involved with my local club whilst studying for my GCSE’s and really enjoyed coaching. I saw the apprentice scheme, as I didn’t want to continue studies at sixth form or college and I really wanted to better myself as a coach. I spoke to Richard (Schools and Coaching Manager) and I was offered an apprenticeship.”

Since then, Fred has progressed to being on a 21-hour contract and then becoming a full-time member of staff in 2024, working as a Community Coach. As part of his role, Fred has been working on completing his Level 3 Teaching Assistant and Level 4 Higher Level TA course, ran by The FA PE and School Sport team in partnership with the Premier League Foundation.

On the course, Fred has increased his knowledge when delivering in school, focusing on high quality PE. He has been externally observed by teaching staff in partner schools and received support from project staff within the Trust.

Fred is now more confident to deliver PE as well as being able to support teachers with their delivery of PE as part of the Premier League Primary Stars project. Fred has also shadowed Lead Coaches to learn more about the project, including supporting on Targeted Interventions such as Resilient Rammie and Reading Stars.

Fred stated, “The knowledge that I have gained form working with DCCT has helped me progress throughout the years and achieve a full-time role. The opportunities that I have gained through working with the Trust have been incredible and I am very proud of the work that I do within our local community.”

Alongside, Schools and Coaching Manager, Richard Mansfield “it’s been fantastic to see Fred develop as a coach throughout his time and he has gained knowledge and experience through CPD and mentoring with colleagues. This has helped him become an integral member of our coaching team.”
