Derby County Women’s U21s reach the Derbyshire FA Women’s County Cup Final following a 2-0 victory against Long Eaton United Women.

In a tightly contested game at Long Eaton’s Grange Park, Derby edged most of the possession and chances in the first half. Long Eaton’s resilient defending kept the score at 0-0 for the first 20 minutes before Lily Skeldon made the breakthrough, nestling a great strike in the bottom corner.

Long Eaton had many chances of their own but Derby’s defence held firm to maintain the 1-0 lead up until just before half time when the young Ewes doubled their lead. A deflected shot from Eva Barret found the back of the net to give the U21s side breathing space going into the break.

Derby dominated the second half, limiting Long Eaton to minimal opportunities to see the tie out and progress to the County Cup final.

The young Ewes, who are sponsored by Unite the Union at Rolls-Royce Derby will now face holders Chesterfield FC Women in the final which is due to be played on Sunday 19^th April, 3pm KO at Ilkeston Town FC.
