To celebrate Volunteer’s Week, Derby County Community Trust have showcased a selection of those who have volunteered within the last few years.

First volunteer, Dylan, began when he was 12 years old, supporting his volunteer hours on the Duke of Edinburgh award and has continued to do so for the last 4 years. This has helped him develop as a person, and sports leader. He has been involved in lots of different projects and events, loving each experience. Recently, Dylan has gained his first job as a casual coach at Erewash council. 

Dylan was previously awarded DCCT volunteer of the year, he recalled he moment:

“This felt amazing, to see that the Trust recognised how much I was volunteering at a young age and the difference I was making through my commitment and dedication to helping others. Hopefully I can be a role model to other young people wanting to get into volunteering.”

Similar to Dylan, Chloe also enjoys working with a variety of children and getting to know all of the different staff within DCCT…

“I volunteer to gain work experience for my sports course within the Trust and to gain knowledge within the sector I’d like to work in”

The final volunteer of the showcase, Amy was motivated by increasing her confidence. Expressing feeling grateful for the opportunities she has been given by the Trust and the qualifications she has gained. 

Amy fondly shared her memories of her Rams in Kenya trip in 2024…

The Kenya trip is by far one of the best things I’ve ever done, and I will forever be grateful to be able to experience that. I now have a job within the Trust and work with the volunteers. I am able to help those in the same way the staff began helping me.”
