Derby County Community Trust recently hosted the local qualifying round of the Utilita EFL Girls Cup at Derby Racecourse Hub.

The Utilita Girls Cup is a national tournament for U13 girls that offers children a once in a lifetime opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium. The competition is one of the country’s largest national football competitions, which culminates in a grand final in front of thousands of fans prior to the EFL Trophy Final in April. In the run up to these finals, Club Community Organisations organise a local competition for all schools wishing to take part in their area.

It was the biggest qualifying round that Derby County Community Trust has held to date with nearly two hundred girls from 20 local secondary schools from across the city and county in attendance.

200 attendees at the football event

Chellaston Academy came out as victors of the local tournament after a closely contested final vs Chapel High. Chellaston will now go on to represent Derby County in the regional phase of the competition in the coming months, where they will face schools representing other clubs.

Congratulations to Chellaston Academy and well done to all the schools who took part on the day.
