Providing countless participation opportunities for school children across Derby

Our Schools Events Calendar has been the heartbeat of school sport across Derby City for many years offering every child regardless of age, ability, or confidence the chance to take part in sport and physical activity. Across 2024/25 a schedule of 189 events brought 17,900 young people from over 80 schools together to move, play, and develop. This was a huge, 23% increase in participants when compared with the 2023/24 academic year.

The delivery of the Schools Events Calendar is about more than just participation sport. It’s about building healthier, happier communities. It’s about giving children access to venues they may not usually see, like Derby Arena and the Racecourse Hub. It’s about providing equal opportunities with girls’ football leagues, SEND events, and the unforgettable Celebration of Dance. It’s about creating a legacy of active, empowered young people.
