Switching Formations

Challenging stereotypes. Building emotional intelligence. Supporting boys to thrive.

Switching formations is a 12-session development programme comprising of 8 class based workshops and 4 team building sessions. The programme challenges harmful gender stereotypes, builds emotional intelligence, encourages respectful relationships and fosters self awareness, peer support and personal responsibility amongst young males.

Switching Formations was made possible by the Premier League and Professional Footballer’s Association Players’ Fund. Administered through the Premier League Foundation, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.

This season, 75 projects are being delivered across the Premier League and English Football League supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) in their local communities.

Funded projects have engaged more than 250,000 unique participants in more than 350,000 sessions across England and Wales and are supported by current and former professional football players, and scholars, to enhance the impact on participants.
