Supporting Good Health and Wellbeing

We’re committed to helping people live longer, healthier, and happier lives, regardless of age, background, or ability.

Supporting good health and wellbeing is paramount to our delivery and runs throughout our projects and programmes. Across Derby and Derbyshire, many individuals face challenges that impact their physical and mental health. From long-term conditions to social isolation, the need for support has never been greater.

In Derbyshire, healthy life expectancy varies significantly by area and deprivation level:

  • On average, men live 62.9 years in good health, while women live 63.9 years, These statistics are both below the national average.
  • 1 in 4 adults in Derbyshire experience mental health issues each year.
  • Around 20.4% of Derbyshire’s population live with a limiting long-term illness or disability.
  • 40% of children in Derby are obese or overweight by Year 6, which is above the national average.

These figures aren’t just numbers; they represent real people in our communities who need our support. At the Trust, providing activity to those experiencing health inequalities remains of high priority.
