Developing More Active Communities

As our mission statement reads, improving the communities in which our participant live is fundamental to what we deliver as a charity.

Communities are at the heart of what we do. Data shows that around 22% of adults in Derbyshire are inactive, meaning that they do less than 30 minutes of physical activity a week.

As a result, physical inactivity across Derby and Derbyshire remains a major challenge but at Derby County Community Trust we’re committed to helping people of all ages to move more and live healthier lives. We use the power of sport and physical activity to improve and maintain the physical and mental wellbeing of our communities.

Our physical activity programmes are designed to foster positive relationships with movement, be flexible and welcoming.

Our delivery includes:

  • Schools Events – Supporting children from across Derby City schools to build positive, lifelong relationships with sport.
  • Holiday Provision – Providing young people with opportunities to be active during the school holidays.
  • After School Clubs and Weekend Club – Engaging primary aged children who may otherwise dace barriers to participation in sport.
  • Disability Football – Providing opportunities for all
