Derby County host their annual Christmas Grotto at Harrison’s Hub, joined by a range of age groups, all enjoying the festive cheer.
A funding contribution of £3,000 was received on behalf of a local group of friends from Chaddesden. After losing their close friend last year, Chris Hitchcock, the group have taken on numerous fundraising challenges.
“Our challenges have always been difficult and this year’s 100k Ultra marathon in the Peak District (on the hottest day of the year) was no different. Blood, sweat, tears and blisters were all on display but with the support of everyone who donated, we got to the end.”
As a local group and Derby County fans, they chose to donate to DCCT to celebrate the work that the Trust does, and the impact it has on the community. Other funds were also donated to the Glenfield Heart Hospital, where Chris was treated.
The DCCT Christmas Grotto also received funding from PIB Insurance Brokers who enjoyed volunteering on the day, surprising the children with their elf costumes!
145 participants walked into Harrison’s Hub across 4 sessions, welcomed with a hot drink, Christmas themed games, crafts, gifts and a delicious turkey cob with all the trimmings.
A special visit from Santa was also made, with pitch side photo opportunities.
Enjoyed by all, it was the perfect was to spread community cheer as we move closer to Christmas Day.
