PL Primary Stars
Launched in September 2016 the aim of the Premier League Primary Stars programme is to:
- Improve the quality of the PE delivery on schools
- Ensure pupils in Derbyshire have access to high quality PE lessons in a fun and safe environment
- Work alongside primary school teachers to upskill their delivery of the PE national curriculum
- Increase CPD opportunities for teachers and support staff around PE and School Sport
- Reduce inactive children by offering a range of intervention and extra-curricular activities
A selection of our coaches have been trained to be able to work alongside your teachers to upskill their delivery in PE, they can deliver across the whole of the PE national curriculum except swimming and tailor action plans to meet the needs of the individual teachers. Throughout the programme we monitor the impact of the support on the teachers and share this information with you afterwards to include in your PE and School Sport premium reports.

+Sport, Move and Learn Project – FREE programme for Schools
What is it?
The Move and Learn Project is a school-based educational programme for children in year 5. It aims to encourage physical activity, promote nutritional education and build awareness of the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
One in five children in Derby are already carrying excess weight by age 4-5, and by age 10-11 the figure has risen to over a third. With the increase in fast food restaurants in the city, Derby County Community Trust are working in partnership with Derby City Council and other agencies to support children and young people to opt for healthier choices both in school and outside of school. In addition, with the decline in physical activity amongst this target audience, the Move and Learn programme aims to tackle both issues in a fun and enjoyable way, ensuring it engages the children who would not normally participate.
